Importance of tiger in ecosystem.
In the past several years, the number of tigers worldwide has been decreasing rapidly. Before 20 century about 100000 tigers were present in the eco system worldwide. But after that till 2010 number of tigers decreased rapidly. According to the numbers given by WWF i.e. world wide Fund for Nature the number of tigers were reduced to 3200 till 2010. As of 2010, there were only 3,200 tigers in existence worldwide. And all efforts are needed to increase the number of tigers.
Importance of tiger in ecosystem. Tigers maintain the diversity and richness of nature. Tigers place in the natures food chain is considered to be the highest. Alternatively, the balance of nature is maintained by maintaining a balance in the number of other living beings in the universe. Without tigers, the population of these animals would increase uncontrollably and put pressure on other natural resources. The presence of tigers in the forest is very important for the health of the forest.
In a forest where there are tigers, people who depend on timber and forest do not go into the forest because of fear And it helps to keep the forest safe.
The tiger holds a special place in our Indian culture. It is the national animal of India and it is a symbol of beauty and grace. Since the tiger and the tribal clans have a thousand-year connection they consider it as a God .
But still it is a wonder why the number of tigers decreased so rapidly in the last few years.
-The biggest and most important reason for the decline in tiger population is tiger poaching.
Since ancient times, hunting tigers was considered as a symbol of bravery. tiger skins in their homes and tiger nails
Being around the neck is considered to be a sign of some degree of prestige at that time. Because of that The royals of the royal family used to hunt tigers a lot. After that, during the British rule of India, the amount of tiger poaching increased further. Weapons like gun were introduced at that time and poaching of tiger increased rapidly.
-Another reason for the decline in tiger population is human encroachment on the natural habitat of tigers. For agriculture, land, wood, man has cut down a large area of forest. And then the forests and surrounding areas with industrialization, roads and villages It started to be taken over by humans.
-Another reason is every part of the body is seen to be in great demand. There is a huge amount of tiger poaching and trade is been practiced worldwide.
- Climate change is another reason for declining numbers of tiger.
There were total 9 species of tigers in the world. Of these, 6 species are now left.
1. Bengal Tiger
2. Siberian tiger
3. Sumatran tiger
4. Indochinese tiger
5. Malayan tiger
6. South China tiger
The TX2 project launched in 2010 aims to increase the number of tigers worldwide to 6000 by 2022. In the last few years, Efforts are being made at many levels for the eradication of tigers.
we can see a promising picture of gradually increasing the number of tigers.

In 2015, there were 3200 tigers in the world. That number has now gone up to 4200. Seventy six percent of the world's tigers are found in south Asia. There has been a significant increase in the number of tigers in India and Nepal.
The number of tigers in India in 2010 was 1706. And as per the number came into 2018 the number of tiger were increased to 2967.
